What it means to be a cub scout in 30 seconds

Ready to Join?

Registration is currently available for Tigers (1st Grade)-Arrow of Light (5th Grade) boys and girls, we are a family Pack.

Registration for Lions (Kindergarten) opens August 15.

Joining Pack 1040 only takes a few steps:

  1. Join us at a summer event, pack meeting or pack event and see what cub scouting is all about

  2. If you are ready to join Click HERE and you will be directed to the scouting website pre-filtered for Pack 1040.

  3. Click "Apply Now"

  4. You will be asked to create a BSA account, click "Create"

  5. Fill in the online forms and requested information. This page should have "Pack 1040" at the top header. If not you will need to select Pack 1040 during the sign up process.

    1. At this point you will pay the One-Time BSA administrative fee of $25 and prorated BSA fees. These fees depend on the time of year you join. You can join BSA at any point in the year! This is the only time you will pay directly to the BSA.

        1. You will also pay the Pack dues directly to our Treasurer. Pack dues are currently $125 per year. The Pack takes care of any BSA yearly re-charter for future years, thus you do not pay BSA after joining. Your dues go to the Pack and stay local.

  6. After applying to BSA you are in the system and officially a member of scouting! Continue to go to events, learn more about scouting and advance in rank.

With your application in the system the cubmaster has a few actions to take including inviting you to ScoutBook, assigning the new cub scout to a den and sending an introductory email. You do not need to wait for these actions to participate in Pack or Den level events. Rank advancement and achievement can be entered into Scoutbook at any point.
